I am Louka (1999, Hoegaarden), a director, cinematographer and photographer based in Anderlecht (Brussels), Belgium. I obtained a Master's degree in Audiovisual Arts - Film from KASK School Of Arts in Ghent and I currently live in Anderlecht (Brussels), Belgium.
In my work, directing and cinematography are closely intertwined, often within small and flexible constellations that leave space for chance, uncertainty and discovery. I gravitate toward a more guerrilla approach to filmmaking, favoring small crews and modest productions that allow for freedom, intuition, and a sense of risk and adventure.
My films emerge from an interest in the contemporary experience of reality - a world increasingly shaped by technology, mediation, and acceleration. Within this landscape, I investigate presence: what it means to be present today, and how presence is shaped through images, bodies, language(s), and technological environments.
Spirituality forms a natural thread throughout my practice. My work moves between the intimate and the vast, approaching questions of perception, meaning, and connection through attentive observation and sensory experience.
Moving between people, places, and platforms, I explore how cinema can remain a space to investigate presence, attention, and connection in our contemporary world.
