I am Louka Morren (°1999, Hoegaarden), a director, cinematographer and photographer. I obtained a Master's degree in Audiovisual Arts - Film from KASK School Of Arts in Ghent and I currently live in Anderlecht (Brussels), Belgium.
My work moves between documentary and fiction, where directing, cinematography and photography intertwine in intimate constellations that leave room for chance, doubt and discovery. I am drawn to small crews, small projects and great freedom - to searching, wandering and being surprised.
My practice stems from a love for both image and reality: the present as something elusive, which I try to approach with attentiveness, sensuality and silence. Whether I film or photograph, I move between the large and the small, the abstract and the concrete, always in search of what feels true, tangible and present.
For me, image is a way of connecting: an attempt to make presence and meaning perceptible in a world that often accelerates and alienates. I carry the same sensitivity to imagery and authenticity into collaborations and commissioned work. I believe that even in a commercial context there is space for sincerity, atmosphere and imagination - and that attention to detail and humanity can enrich any project.
I work fluently in Dutch, English and Spanish, and have a working proficiency in French, which allows me to collaborate with both local and international teams.
